First shoulder injuries forced “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung (pictured) to ride the pine, now his mandatory responsibilities in the South Korean military will sideline the former UFC featherweight top contender for two years.

Jung made the announcement Monday on his official Facebook page.

He is scheduled to report to basic training on October 20.

The 27-year-old hasn’t been seen since losing to reigning featherweight king Jose Aldo in August 2013 at UFC 163. Jung was then sidelined with a dislocated shoulder he suffered against Aldo.

The popular 145-pounder was slated to return earlier this month against Akira Corassani, but had to withdraw with further shoulder issues.

Jung had won four straight scraps prior to his TKO defeat to Aldo. He is currently clocked at #6 in the UFC featherweight fighter rankings.
