With a potential life sentencing staring him dead in the eyes, former UFC and Bellator MMA fighter War Machine (pictured), previously known as Jonathan Koppenhaver, tried to kill himself in his Las Vegas jail cell.
Unfortunately for War Machine, a corrections officer jumping in before it was too late.
According to TMZ.com, on Tuesday around 9:30PM an officer was walking by War Machine’s cell. The officer noticed him sitting on the ground with his feet up on the bunk bed.
The officer then entered the cell and found War Machine had a piece of linen wrapped around his neck, with the other end tied to the bed. War Machine’s face was purple.
The officer reportedly found what appeared to be a suicide note in the cell.
War Machine is currently in a medical isolation cell on suicide watch.
On September 3, War Machine plead not guilty to 32 felony charges, including two counts of attempted murder, for the alleged attack on ex-girlfriend Christy Mack and her male friend.
The troubled 32-year-old is also facing domestic battery by strangulation, first-degree kidnapping, sexual assault, among other charges from his August 8 altercation at Mack’s Las Vegas home.
