UFC Bantamweight Urijah Faber

Good news, Urijah Faber (pictured) fans! “The California Kid” is headlining UFC 181 … the preliminary card, that is.

For the second time in as many outings, despite being one of the UFC’s more popular and recognizable athletes, Faber will not appear on the live pay-per-view portion of a UFC event. According to Faber, he requested to headline UFC 175‘s prelims against Alex Caceres because Fox Sports 1 provides more exposure than PPV.

Faber nor the UFC have not confirmed whether he asked for the same treatment for his December 6 scrap with Francisco Rivera.

The show’s featured attraction will be a welterweight rematch between champion Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler. “Ruthless” has won two straight to earn another crack at Hendricks, while “Bigg Rigg” has been riding the pine rehabbing his injured arm since their initial March encounter.

Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts the festivities.

Here is the show’s official agenda:

Preliminary Card:

(UFC Fight Pass 7PM ET/4PM PT)

Alex White vs. Clay Collard

Sergio Pettis vs. Matt Hobar

(Fox Sports 1 8PM ET/5PM PT)

Eddie Gordon vs. Josh Samman

Urijah Faber vs. Francisco Rivera
