A middleweight affair between veteran Nate Marquardt (pictured) and Brad Tavares has been added to the UFC 182 lineup.
UFC officials confirmed the bout via Twitter.
The January 3 event takes place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Marquardt collected a much-needed win by submitting James Te Huna in his last outing. “Nate the Great” had dropped three straight prior to June’s victory.
Tavares could be fighting for his UFC life. The once-promising Hawaiian has lost two consecutive scraps, most recently getting TKO’d by Tim Boetsch in August.
Unless he gets completely embarrassed, Tavares will likely get another go in the UFC even if he loses. “The Ultimate Fighter 11” contestant had won five in a row prior to his current skid.
Here is the show’s current roster:
Louis Gaudinot vs. Kyoji Horiguchi
Danny Castillo vs. Rustam Khabilov
Nate Marquardt vs. Brad Tavares
Josh Burkman vs. Hector Lombard
Cat Zingano vs. Ronda Rousey (UFC bantamweight champion)
Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones (UFC light heavyweight champion)
