Josh Barnett said that he never turned down the CBS fight with Andrei Arlovski, but now we know why he was never aware it was going to be offered to him. Affliction Entertainment VP Tom Atencio told SI.com that Barnett, “was offered the fight, (but) I couldn’t get a hold of him. He was out of the country.”
Now that has allowed former IFL heavyweight, Roy Nelson, to slide in and face former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski on network television.
“It’s a good matchup either way, but now it makes it so that the winner of this fight is in contention to fight Fedor,” Atencio continued.
With October 4th now on the docket for Affliction, it has all of their attention as they want to build the Affliction brand through the co-promotion with EliteXC.
Affliction still has not finalized a date or card for their January event, which has apparently been moved to January 24th instead of January 17th based off the comment made by Affliction Entertainment COO, Michael Cohen.
