Life couldn’t be better for UFC featherweight Conor McGregor (pictured). He’s possibly the hottest name in the MMA game right now, and his paycheck is reflecting his stardom.
According to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Athletic Commission, the committee who sanctioned Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 59 event in Boston, McGregor made $170,000 (half coming via win bonus) for dominating Dennis Siver in the show’s featured attraction.
Siver walked away with $39,000.
Just to put things into perspective, McGregor made more for this fight than UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, arguably the UFC’s biggest mainstream superstar, did for beating Alexis Davis at UFC 175.
Rousey made just $120,000 in disclosed salary for that outing.
Please keep in mind, the numbers that get reported to the athletic commissions are only of what’s required. These figures do not include deductions for items such as licenses and taxes.
Additionally, they do not contain money paid by sponsors or any bonuses from the UFC. These royalties can include Fight Night bonuses, top secret discretionary bonuses, etc., which can oftentimes represent a substantial portion of a fighter’s total income.
TD Garden in Massachusetts hosted Sunday’s event.
