Former lightweight champion Benson Henderson wasn’t kidding when he said he wanted to get back in action ASAP to get the taste of Sunday’s bitter loss to Donald Cerrone out of his mouth.
On Thursday, UFC officials announced Henderson has agreed to replace injured Bobby Green to meet Jorge Masvidal at UFC Fight Night 63.
The April 4 event takes place inside Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
Henderson is just four days removed from a controversial unanimous decision defeat to Cerrone. While “Smooth” has now dropped two straight scraps, his job likely isn’t on the line given his resume.
Masvidal, meanwhile, has quietly rattled off three consecutive victories. The former Strikeforce star was most recently seen beating James Krause in September.
No word on the extent of Green’s injury or how long he’ll be forced to sit the sidelines.
Here is the show’s current lineup:
Shamil Abdurahimov vs. Timothy Johnson
Liz Carmouche vs. Lauren Murphy
Michael Chiesa vs. Mitch Clarke
Diego Ferreira vs. Dustin Poirier
Benson Henderson vs. Jorge Masvidal
Chad Mendes vs. Ricardo Lamas
