Another week, another UFC fighter flunks a drug test. It’s like a broken record that nobody wants to listen to at this point…
UFC welterweight contender Hector Lombard (pictured) is the latest mixed martial artist to take a performance-enhancing drug.
According to MMAFighting.com, Lombard failed his UFC 182 fight night drug screening for the anabolic steroid desoxymethyltestosterone. Lombard posted a unanimous decision victory over Josh Berkman that January 3 evening.
This explains why Lombard’s critical scrap against Rory MacDonald was abruptly pulled from the UFC 186 lineup Tuesday morning without explanation.
Steroid.com states desoxymethyltestosterone, also known as Madol or DMT, is an “extremely potent muscle and strength gaining oral steroid that’s 60% more anabolic (muscle building) than testosterone, yet only 60% as androgenic (impacting male sex characteristics).”
According to NAC executive director Bob Bennett, the drug test results were received by the NAC from the Quest Diagnostics lab in Kansas on January 13. Burkman had no problems passing his fight night exam.
Lombard now faces a suspension, fine and having his win overturned to a no contest.
“Showeather” got off to a slow 1-2 start in the UFC after transitioning over as Bellator’s former middleweight champion. He has since rattled off three straight wins since dropping to welterweight.
Last Tuesday, former UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva tested positive for two PEDs ahead of his UFC 183 victory over Nick Diaz, who also failed his drug test for marijuana.
Cocaine was found in UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones’ random drug test in January.
