Cain Velasquez (pictured) vs. Fabricio Werdum in Mexico City: Take Two. After a knee injury forced Velasquez to withdraw from their November tango, the two will now collide at UFC 188.

The UFC confirmed the title unification bout Monday.

Werdum went on to post a TKO victory over Mark Hunt for the interim heavyweight crown at UFC 180. The 37-year-old Brazilian has enjoyed a career resurgence since rejoining the UFC in 2012, winning his last five fights for the promotion.

Velasquez, meanwhile, is the division’s most dominant force but has had trouble staying healthy on a consistent basis. Because of various injuries, Velasquez has only fought five times since October 2010.

He owns a dominant 13-1 professional record, avenging his lone defeat to Junior dos Santos twice in emphatic fashion.

No other bouts have been confirmed for the lineup. A venue will to host the event will be announced shortly.
