Steve Cantwell Can’t Go For UFC 108

And then there were 10, at least for now. Late Tuesday night, the UFC pulled the light heavyweight scrap between Steve Cantwell and Vladimir Matyushenko from this weekend’s UFC 108 event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

According to MMAWeekly.com, Cantwell will be forced out due to an undisclosed injury. Although there are only four days until gametime, it’s believed the planet’s biggest MMA show is currently scouring the earth for a replacement to make Saturday’s deadline.

It’s only fitting that this injury-riddled fight card suffered another setback just 96 hours before the curtain is drawn. Although the roster isn’t as star-studded as originally anticipated, all of the televised bouts should be pretty nasty.

Here is the revised lineup for the Spike TV/pay-per-view broadcast:

Preliminary Bouts:

Vladimir Matyushenko vs. TBD
Rafaello Oliveira vs. John Gunderson
Jake Ellenberger vs. Mike Pyle
Mark Munoz vs. Ryan Jensen

(Spike TV 9PM ET/6PM PT)

Dan Lauzon vs. Cole Miller
Martin Kampmann vs. Rory Markham

Main Bouts:

Junior Dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel
Jim Miller vs. Duane “Bang” Ludwig
Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout
Dustin Hazelett vs. Paul Daley
Thiago Silva vs. Rashad Evans
