Before the UFC blew up to what it is today, Ken Shamrock was one of the two most well known MMA fighters in the world. Now he wants to prove that he still belongs. “I’m very confident that I’m going to get a win,” Shamrock told SI.com. And by his actions at yesterday’s weigh-ins, “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” still has the fire burning in his belly.
As Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson and Ken Shamrock posed for the photographers in front of them at yesterday’s weigh-ins, all seemed normal. Then when the fighters were asked to face each other for the customary staredown picture, Shamrock turned towards Kimbo, however Kimbo turned away from the UFC Hall of Famer and headed for the exit.
The short-tempered Shamrock didn’t take too kindly to Kimbo’s actions and shoved him in the back. “Don’t turn your back on me,” Shamrock repeatedly yelled at Kimbo as the two had to be separated.
Although the intensity is still there for Shamrock, things haven’t been easy for him of late, as he’s encountered losses in 8 out of his last 10 fights. Furthermore, he hasn’t won a fight in over four years, going 0-5 during that period.
“I think that the biggest difference is that I’m going to this fight healthy,” Shamrock explained.
Shamrock hasn’t even thought about anything beyond October 4th. “Everything I’ve been working up towards is Saturday. I haven’t even thought past Saturday,” Shamrock continued.
A win over Slice tonight might be all Shamrock needs to ride off into the sunset.
