The UFC 189 World Press Tour covered several American cities, five countries and four continents in just 12 days. It was only a matter of time before featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor (pictured) tried to get physical.
Tensions came to a head on the tour’s final leg Tuesday in McGregor’s backyard of Ireland.
McGregor has been on 100 at every stop, irking Aldo more and more along the way. Now with the backing of his boisterous countrymen, McGregor turned up his intensity another notch.
It seemed as though Aldo and McGregor were jawing at each other as soon as they hit the podium.
When a fan asked Aldo if the passion the Irish have shown McGregor in Boston and Ireland will affect him come game time, Aldo professed he was in fact the king of Dublin. That clearly didn’t sit well with McGregor nor his fellow Irishmen.
McGregor kicked his feet on the table and shouted back,” You’re looking at the king of Dublin!”
“Notorious” then pushed UFC president Dana White out of the way and gabbed the UFC belt that was laying in front of Aldo.
Aldo went after McGregor and the bitter rivals had to be separated.
Of course, this wasn’t the first time McGregor teased Aldo by grabbing the gold during this promotional tour. However, the last time McGregor did it he took the strap from a UFC employee who was holding it. Today’s move was far more aggressive since the belt was right in front of Aldo.
Today’s face-off was just as heated, as the 145-pounders were screaming at each other the entire time.
Aldo and McGregor finally get to settle things at UFC 189 in Las Vegas. July 11 can’t come soon enough…
