For those who thought veteran Mike Swick (pictured) had fallen off the face of the earth following December 2012’s knockout loss to Mike Brown, well, the veteran pretty much did.
Swick has been focusing on his new gym in Thailand and has disappeared from the MMA scene, leaving most to wonder if we’d seen the last of “Quick” Well, not so fast.
On Tuesday, ESPN.com reported Swick will end his 31-month hiatus against Alex Garcia at UFC 189. Officials have since confirmed Swick’s comeback.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Swick has taken an extended hiatus from fighting. Due to various injuries and illnesses, the 35-year-old has only competed five times since 2009.
“The Ultimate Fighter 1” contestant has dropped three of his last four scraps.
Garcia has been sidelined with a torn ACL since losing to Neil Magny last August. The 27-year-old had won six straight prior to the unanimous decision defeat.
The July 11 event takes place inside MGM Grand Garden Arean in Las Vegas, Nevada.
