UFC 189 just got that much more star-studded. On Wednesday, the promotion announced a welterweight affair between Nate Diaz (pictured) and Matt Brown was added to the July 11 roster.
Both fighters are looking to rebound from defeats. Diaz dropped a lopsided unanimous decision to now-champion Rafael dos Anjos in December. The controversial 29-year-old has lost three of his past four bouts.
Diaz is returning to the 170-pound division for the first time in eight fights. He had been competing at lightweight for the past four years.
Brown, meanwhile, will be riding a two-fight skid into the tango. He was outpointed by Robbie Lawler in July and by Johny Hendricks in March.
UFC 189 features two title tilts, including the highly-anticipated and heavily hyped showdown between featherweight king Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts the festivities.
Here is the card’s current lineup:
John Hathaway vs. Gunnar Nelson
Mike Swick vs. Alex Garcia
Brandon Thatch vs. John Howard
Dennis Bermudez vs. Jeremy Stephens
Nate Diaz vs. Matt Brown
Rory MacDonald vs. Robbie Lawler (UFC welterweight champion)
Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo (UFC fetherweight champion)
