Who needs Nate Diaz when you have Tim Means? On Tuesday, it was announced Matt Brown (pictured) will now battle means at UFC 189.
Brown was initially slated to fight Diaz in the July 11 event, but Diaz refused to sign the bout agreement.
Brown will be riding a two-fight skid into the tango. He was outpointed by Robbie Lawler in July and by Johny Hendricks in March.
Means, meanwhile, is just three days removed from submitting George Sullivan at UFC on FOX 15. “The Dirty Bird” has quietly rattled off four consecutive victories.
Diaz, at least for the time being, seems content with not getting paid to sit the sidelines.
MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts the festivities.
Here is the card’s updated lineup:
John Hathaway vs. Gunnar Nelson
Mike Swick vs. Alex Garcia
Brandon Thatch vs. John Howard
Dennis Bermudez vs. Jeremy Stephens
Matt Brown vs. Tim Means
Rory MacDonald vs. Robbie Lawler (UFC welterweight champion)
Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo (UFC featherweight champion)
