Tim Kennedy has drawn a line in the sand, and an unemployment check awaits the defeated.
On this week’s edition of “UFC Tonight,” it was reported Kennedy is eyeing a return against Lyoto Machida. However, the former Green Beret wants to raise the stakes higher than merely getting your hand raised and securing a win bonus.
Kennedy would like the bout to be a loser leaves the UFC fight.
Machida might be interested in a tango with Kennedy, but putting his job on the line is probably out of the question.
Both middleweights are looking to bounce back from losses. Machida is five days removed from getting submitted by Luke Rockhold at UFC on FOX 15. “The Dragon” has lost two of his past three scraps.
Kennedy, meanwhile, hasn’t been seen since his controversial TKO defeat to Yoel Romero. The former Strikeforce star had rattled off four straight wins prior to September’s outing.
Machida dropped to #4 in the UFC middleweight division following his loss to Rockhold, while Kennedy is currently ranked #8.
Whether the matchup is arranged remains to be seen. Regardless, Machida is going to need plenty of time to clear the cobwebs after Saturday’s beatdown.
