Well, at least Jon Jones doesn’t have a massive Kool-Aid smile plastered across his face in his latest mugshot. So, the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion appears to understand the severity of his latest setback.
Jones surrendered himself to the Albuquerque Police Department Monday at 7:11 PM local time after a felony arrest warrant was issued earlier in the day for his alleged hit-and-run incident Sunday morning.
Jones’ bail has been set at $2,500, cash-only. He was booked into Bernalillo County MDC.
The controversial 27-year-old superstar is facing a felony charge for “leaving the scene of an accident involving death or injuries.”
According to the police report, Jones ran a red light and rammed a woman’s car into another vehicle. The 25-year-old woman is pregnant and suffered a broken arm and wrist.
Officers subsequently discovered marijuana and a marijuana pipe in the rental car Jones abandoned.
Of course, this wasn’t the first time Jones has posed for a jailhouse cameraman:
Jones was arrested in May 2012 for driving while intoxicated in New York after wrapping his $190,000 Bentley around a telephone pole. After pleading guilty, Jones was fined $1,000 and had his driver’s license suspended for six months.
Jones is currently slated to defend his crown against Anthony Johnson on May 23 at UFC 187.
