See Jon Jones (pictured) run … again. The KOAT 7 news crew stuck around the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque late Monday night to ask the UFC light heavyweight champ some questions following his arrest for Sunday’s alleged hit-and-run that caused a pregnant woman to break her arm and wrist.
Oh, did I forget to mention police found marijuana and a marijuana pipe in the rental car Jones reportedly abandoned at the crash scene?
As expected, Jones wasn’t in a talking mood after posting his $2,500 bond. “Bones” was, however, still in the mood to run as he covered his face with paperwork and bolted into the passenger seat of a waiting car as a reporter fired off questions at him.
Jones’ attorney, Vincent Ward, did make a brief statement on his client’s behalf. Perhaps he shouldn’t have because it only made things worse.
“He wants to get down to training for this fight he has,” said Ward of Jones’ UFC 187 appointment with Anthony Johnson. “He wouldn’t want to be dealing with this right now, but he’s a great guy, he’s taking all this seriously.”
Oh, boy. Where to begin with the absurdity of this comment?
Jones is facing a felony charge for leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injuries.
If the UFC decides to turn a blind eye, Jones will defend his throne against Johnson on May 23 in Las Vegas in one of the most star-studded MMA shows in recent memory.
