Jon Jones (pictured) has been radio silent since Sunday’s alleged hit-and-run where a pregnant woman suffered a broken arm and marijuana was discovered in Jones’ abandoned rental vehicle.
Jones hid and ran from a reporter without comment following Monday’s felony arrest.
When Jones appeared in a crisp, clean grey suit flanked by his buffoon of an attorney at Tuesday’s court hearing, Jones stood there quiet and let his lawyer do all the talking.
After receiving a temporary UFC suspension and getting stripped of his light heavyweight title, a belt Jones has donned in eight straight defenses, “Bones” thumbed out a brief tweet of sorrow.
“Got a lot of soul searching to do. Sorry to everyone I’ve let down,” Jones posted on his verified Twitter account late last night.
When it rains, it pours. Reebok terminated their contract with Jones Wednesday morning following Jones’ latest setback.
Correct, this of course isn’t the first time Jones has been in trouble. The controversial 27-year-old was arrested in May 2012 for driving while intoxicated in New York after wrapping his $190,000 Bentley around a telephone pole. After pleading guilty, Jones was fined $1,000 and had his driver’s license suspended for six months.
Jones also tested positive for traces of cocaine prior to January’s UFC 182 victory over Daniel Cormier. Jones claimed he didn’t have a cocaine issue, but “dipped and dabbed” in various illegal substances during his college years.
