It’s a good thing Khabib Nurmagomedov is hurt right now, otherwise he’d really be laying into former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis (pictured).

Late Thursday night, “Fox Sports Live” reported Pettis has suffered an elbow injury that will force the injury-prone Pettis from his July 25 tango against Myles Jury. Edson Barboza has agreed to step in and face Jury at UFC on FOX 16.

Pettis has only fought twice since beating Benson Henderson in August 2013 to capture the UFC lightweight title. “Showtime” was looking to rebound from losing his belt to Rafael dos Anjos in March.

No word on how long Pettis will be forced to ride the pine.

Nurmagomedov hasn’t been shy about calling Pettis out on his propensity to get hurt. Pettis recently said “karma’s a bitch” after Nurmagomedov was sidelined with his own knee injury.

Donald Cerrone handed Jury his first professional defeat in 16 outings in January. Regardless, “Fury” is still considered to be one of the division’s top up-and-comers.

Barboza is also trying to bounce back from a loss. The Brazilian had won two straight prior to dropping a unanimous decision to Michael Johnson in February.

United Center in Chicago, Illinois hosts the festivities. FOX brodcasts the main card live starting at 8PM ET/5PM PT.

Here is the show’s updated agenda:

Zak Cummings vs. Braga Neto

Gian Villante vs. Tom Lawlor

Ramsey Nijem vs. Erik Koch

Joe Lauzon vs. Takanori Gomi

Danny Castillo vs. Rustam Khabilov

Edson Barboza vs. Myles Jury

Miesha Tate vs. Jessica Eye

Renan Barao vs. TJ Dillashaw (UFC bantamweight champion)
