EliteXC "Sells Out" "Heat" Event

EliteXC has released the attendance numbers from Saturday night’s “EliteXC: Heat” event at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida.  It was the organization’s third primetime event with CBS, and was headlined by company poster boy, and Florida native, Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson.  The “sold out” event drew a total attendance of 9,414, totaling a live gate of $826,433.

Anytime EliteXC puts on a card with Kimbo Slice as the main attraction, it is sure to draw a crowd. Even after his upset loss to Seth Petruzelli, Kimbo is sure to bring in big numbers the next time around. So it was not surprising that the ticket sales for “Heat” exceeded EliteXC’s expectations and forced the promotion to open up additional sections just days before the event.

Of the 9,414 people in attendance,  7,723 of those paid, while the remaining were given away for promotional and VIP purposes.

The event was announced as “sold out,” however because of the backdrop setup for the fighters’ entrance way, only three-quarters of the arena was open. Imagine a horseshoe configuration of seating for fans, with the entire upper bowl completely empty.

So in this case, “sold out” is a relative term.
