Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans had an easy night going until Thiago Silva landed a straight right hand that had Evans on wobbly legs towards the end of the third and final round.

Showing the heart of a champion, Evans was able to survive as Silva was unable to capitalize on his wounded opponent. Evans was able to ride out the final 90 seconds and take home a unanimous decision.

From the outset of the fight, it was blatantly obvious that Evans wanted to get back to his wrestling roots as he told Joe Rogan following his win.

“It was something that I got away from because I was successful doing other things,” Evans said about his gameplan going into the fight.

After the win, Evans immediately looked into the future and had a message for another former champion.

“I heard that there’s an actor coming back. Rampage, I know you’re watching. Come back and let’s get it on,” Evans said into the camera as if he was talking directly to Quinton Jackson.
