Following both of their victories on “Saturday Night Fights” on CBS, Gus Johnson and the entire EliteXC broadcast team hinted at the possibility of Gina Carano taking on Christiane “Cyborg” Santos down the road.
Coming off of a victory, you could chalk it up to possibly being happy about getting a win after a fight, but Carano didn’t sound too “convicted” when asked about the possibility.
“If that’s who they [EliteXC] put in front of me, she’s [Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos] an awesome fighter,” Carano told Johnson after the fight.
It was clear everytime they showed Santos that she wanted to fight Carano, but does Carano want to fight “Cyborg” at this point of her career?
After nearly failing to make weight again and having TV show appearances as well as her stint on American Gladiators, it’s clear that Carano would have to be 100% focused on her training if she wants to compete at Santos’ level.
There was talk that the fight could happen sometime later this year, but that would be highly unlikely as EliteXC only has one more card scheduled during the year and that’s a little more than a month away. If there is another fight card on CBS, you can bet that a Carano vs. Santos fight for the women’s title would be something to look for.
