Well, that didn’t take long. Less than a month after being granted her release from World Series of Fighting, Jessica Aguilar (pictured) has signed with the UFC.
Aguilar will make her long-awaited big league debut against Claudia Gadelha at UFC 190.
Brazilian outlet Combate first reported Aguilar’s signing and the matchup. Terms of Aguilar’s deal were not disclosed.
The August 1 event takes place inside HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Aguilar was considered the world’s top strawweight prior to becoming WSOF’s first female athlete in November 2013. Aguilar’s status as the division’s top dog has been up for debate ever since the UFC recently debuted their 115 division.
Aguilar owns a 19-4 professional record, with her last three coming under WSOF’s banner. The 33-year-old is perfect through her past 10 outings.
Gadelha is looking to bounce back from the first loss of her professional career. The up-and-coming 26-year-old dropped a split decision to now-UFC strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk in December.
Here is the show’s updated lineup:
