Just four days removed from a split decision loss to Eddie Alvarez, lightweight Gilbert Melendez has agreed to serve as last minute substitute to battle (pictured) Al Iaquinta at UFC Fight Night 71.

Iaquinta was initially slated to co-headline the show against Bobby Green, but Green recently suffered an undisclosed injury.

The new matchup was announced on this week’s edition of “UFC Tonight.”

The July 15 takes place inside Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.

After leaving his Strikeforce title behind when the promotion collapsed, Melendez has gone a disappointing 1-3 in the UFC. “El Nino’s” lone victory in the big leagues came three outings ago in a thriller against Diego Sanchez.

Iaquinta has rattled off wins in seven of his last eight outings, including four straight. “The Ultimate Fighter 15″ winner is quickly, and quietly, making his way up the lightweight ladder.

Fox Sports 1 is expected to broadcast the main card live.

Here is the show’s updated lineup:

Jessica Andrade vs. Sarah Moras

Scott Jorgensen vs. Manny Gamburyan

Alan Jouban vs. Matt Dwyer

Igor Araujo vs. Sean Strickland

Holly Holm vs. Marion Reneau

Tony Ferguson vs. Josh Thomson

Gilbert Melendez vs. Al Iaquinta

Todd Duffee vs. Frank Mir
