Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson (pictured) ended his five-year MMA hiatus Friday night in emphatic fashion by laying the smack down on UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock at Bellator 138.
While Kimbo was nearly a 3-1 odds-on favorite to plaster Shamrock, their bout was far from one-sided. Shamrock secured two takedowns and slapped on a rear-naked choke that appeared so tight that many are still baffled he couldn’t finish off the street fighting legend.
Kimbo fended off the choke and powered his way to his feet. It was a wrap after that.
Kimbo staggered Shamrock with a right to the dome, then a left haymaker for good measure. A thunderous right that opened up a cut over Shamrock’s left eye sealed the deal.
The official stoppage came at 2:22 in the opening round.
Not to rain on Kimbo’s parade, but Shamrock is 51 years old…
Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri hosted the festivities.
