UFC president Dana White claims “UFC 189: Aldo vs. McGregor” is currently trending towards one million pay-per-view buys. Since the UFC is a privately-owned company, there is no way anyone can confirm if the July 11 extravaganza actually pulls that kind of number, but we’ll give White the benefit of the doubt.
Considering how much the UFC has spent to promote the card, it better.
Reigning featherweight king Jose Aldo (pictured) defends his throne against the chatty Conor McGregor in the show’s featured attraction. Robbie Lawler makes his first welterweight title defense when he battles Rory MacDonald in the co-main event.
The rest of the lineup is pretty deep, but the top two bouts should be well worth their weight in gold on their own.
MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada serves as host.
