Stephen Thompson (pictured) faced the toughest test of his career in Jake Ellenberger Sunday at “The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale,” and “Wonderboy” passed with flying colors.
After eating a solid right that sent him to the canvas early, Thompson rallied by unleashing his diversified standup arsenal. Thompson did a masterful job of using his reach advantage, specifically his legs, to finish Ellenberger.
The beginning of the end was a spinning hook kick that dropped “The Juggernaut” like a sack of potatoes. Ellenberger managed to get to back up, but was clearly out on his feet. Thompson smelled blood and uncorked another spinning hook kick that floored his opponent again.
A couple of bombs on the canvas and the scrap was called.
Thompson has now won five straight scraps. Ellenberger, meanwhile, has lost four of his past five.
TUF 21 Finale took place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
