Remember when Frank Mir (pictured) dropped four straight fights and everyone was wondering why he was still in the UFC? Well, the former heavyweight champion has since posted back-to-back first round knockout victories.
His latest victim came Wednesday night in Todd Duffee. Duffee was the one who “respectfully” requested a tango with Mir, likely because he thought it would be an easy win against an aging veteran who is ranked higher than him.
As the old adage goes, “Be careful what you wish for.”
In a wild, yet brief, heavyweight affair, Mir caught Duffee with a left hook to the dome and it was lights out.
The official stoppage came at 1:13 in the first round.
UFC Fight Night 71 took place inside Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.
