Jan Blachowicz just doesn’t bring the same sizzle as Jimi Manuwa, so the UFC has decided to make a change. On Thursday, it was announced Manuwa will replace Blachowicz to fight former light heavyweight top contender Anthony Johnson (pictured) at UFC 191.
Blachowicz is expected to remain in the September 5 event against a different opponent.
Johnson is looking to bounce back from May’s devastating submission loss to Daniel Cormier for the vacant light heavyweight title. “Rumble” had rattled off nine straight wins prior to getting tapped out.
Manuwa rebounded from the lone loss of his career by beating Blachowicz in April. He was TKO’d by Alexander Gustafsson prior to posting a decision win over Blachowicz.
Either MGM Grand Garden Arena or Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada will hosts the gig.
Here is the show’s updated lineup:
Francisco Rivera vs. John Lineker
Paige VanZant vs. Alex Chambers
Antony Johnson vs. Jimi Manuwa
Frank Mir vs. Andrei Arlovski
John Dodson vs. Demetrious Johnson (UFC flyweight champion)
