‘UFC 190: Rousey vs. Correia’ Live Results And Play-by-Play

“UFC 190: Rousey vs. Correia” is officially jumping off inside HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. UFC Fight Pass kicks off tonight’s festivities by streaming two preliminary bouts at approximately 7PM ET/4PM PT.

Fox Sports 1 will then broadcast the remaining four prelims starting at 8PM ET/5PM PT. Unfortunately the UFC’s generosity ends there, as fans will have to pay for the goods when the pay-per-view begins at 10PM ET/7PM PT.

Reigning bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey defends her crown against Bethe Correia in tonight’s featured attraction. Former light heavyweight champ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua battles Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the co-main event.

Here are the official results and play-by-play from tonight’s action:

Preliminary Card:

Guido Cannetti Defeats Hugo Viana via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

1stRound:Viana starts things off with a hook to the face and tries to follow up with a flying knee that misses. Cannetti attempts a spinning back kick, but Viana catches it and scores a takedown. Viana was going for a leg lock, then takes Cannetti’s back after a brief scramble. Cannetti fights to his feet. Viana has him pressed against the fence and eats some knees to the midsection for his troubles. Viana catches a kick from Cannetti and takes him down again for a brief moment.

5thRound scores it: Viana, 10-9.

2ndRound: Cannetti connects with a heavy inside leg kick and follows up with a left high kick. Viana blocked some of the strike, but ate a good amount and appears wobbly. Cannetti tries to pounce and lands a takedown and quickly moves to side-control. Viana pushes him off and gets to his feet. Viana appears to have recovered from the head kick. Not much action for the past minute. Viana takes his legs out with a leg kick. Viana secures a takedown and unleashes some solid ground-and-pound.

5thRound scores it: Cannetti, 10-9.

3rdRound: Cannetti tags him with a spinning back kick. Cannetti lands a knee to the midsection. Viana gets a takedown. Cannetti easily bounces back to his feet. Certainly not the most exciting fight the octagon has ever hosted. Cannetti lands a body kick. Cannetti plants him on his back with just over a minute to go. Cannetti appears happy to ride out a possible decision win.

5thRound scores it: Cannetti, 10-9, and likely rallied to win, 29-28.

Vitor Miranda Defaets Clint Hester via TKO (punches) at 2:38 in the 2ndRound

1stRound: Hester immediately goes for a takedown. Miranda was defending well, but Hester is relentless and finally drags him to the canvas. Hester not doing much but hold on and the crowd gets impatient. OK, fine, the crowd boos. Loud. Miranda gets to his feet. Hester shoots for another takedown but Miranda shoves him off and ends up on top. Miranda lands a few bombs. The crowd screams in approval. Miranda really scoring late in the round.

5thRound scores it: Mirada, 10-9.

2ndRound: Hester scores with a big straight right. Hester dives for a takedown and gets it. They get to their feet. Miranda thwarts a double-leg takedown attempt. Hester sloppy coming in for a takedown and eats a knee to the grill. Miranda knows he’s dazed and confused and goes in for the kill. Hester survives the first assault, but referee Herb Dean puts an end to the violence on the Miranda’s second ground-and-pound barrage.

Iuri Alcantara Defeats Leandro Issa via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-27)

1stRound: Alcantara slips a punche and attacks. Issa tries to attack inside, but Alcantara gets to an inverted triangle position. Alcantara working for an arm. Issa is able to get top position after a scramble. Issa goes for an arm to no avail. He mainly used the attack to advance to side-control. He continues to go afer Alcantara’s arm. Alcantara gets back to their feet for just a brief moment. Issa lands on top after a scramble. Issa is draped all over him. He postures up in the final seconds and scores with punches.

5thRound scores it: Issa, 10-9.

2ndRound: Alcantara clocks him with a right hand that sends Issa tumbling. Alcantara doesn’t want to follow him to the ground. Issa gets a warning after grabbing the fence. Alcantara had an inverted triangle for a brief moment. Alcantara scores with his hands. Issa eats a big punch and falls to the ground. Alantara looking to finish his dazed opponent. Issa is hurt. Issa stumbles to his corner after the bell rings.

5thRound scores it: Alcantara, 10-9.

3rdRound: They hug to start the final period. Alcantara lands another front kick. Issa going for a takedown, but Alcantara lands on top after scramble. Alcantara wiggles loose.  Alcantara is really starting to find his groove, as Issa is slowing badly. Issa goes for a takedown, but Alcantara lands on top and is going for a kimura. Alcantara is giving him the business. He smells blood and is going for the kill. Issa is badly hurt. Alcantara lets him back up. Issa’s face is badly bloodied. Alcantara lands a flying knee to the face. He’s trying to finish, but is running out of time.

5thRound scores it: Alcantara , 10-9, and should win, 29-28.

Warlley Alves Defeats Nordine Taleb via Submission (guillotine choke) at 4:11 in the 2ndRound

1stRound: Alves starts thing off with a heavy leg kick. Taleb tries to return the favor, but Alves catches the kick and takes him down. He lands in Taleb’s half-guard. Alves not inflicting much damage on the ground, but is doing enough to keep it from getting stood up. Taleb kicks him off and gets to his feet. Alves drops him with a right hook. Taleb bounces right back up and appears to have recovered. Alves thwarts a takedown attempt. Taleb tags him with a right hand. Taleb clinches him against the cage and knees him in the body. And another one.

5thRound scores it: Alves, 10-9.

2ndRound: Taleb takes the center of the cage, much like he did in the opening round. Alves lands a takedown. He clocks him with a big right. Taleb keeping him in his half-guard. Alves unleashing elbows now. Alves slaps on a guillotine choke after a scramble. Taleb gets free and is clinching Aves against the fence. Alves drops for a guillotine choke. Taleb is forced to cry uncle.

Patrick Cummins Defeats Rafael Cavalcante via TKO (elbows) at :45 in the 3rdRound

1stRound: Cavalcante misses on a spinning head kick and Cummins jumps on him. Cummins is draped on his back. He picks Cavalcante up and slams him to the ground for a brief moment. Cummins remains on his back. Cavalcante fending him off pretty well. Cummins finally drags him to the ground. Cavalcante gets to his feet. Cummins slams him to the ground again. Cavalcante finally separates. Cavalcante tags him with a right. Cummins charges for another takedown. Cavalcante hasn’t landed much, but Cummins’ eyes are swollen up.

5thRound scores it: Cummins, 10-9.

2ndRound: Cavalcante is looking for a home run punch, but may never land it if Cummins continues to get a hold of him. Cummins’ face is now badly bloodied up. Cummins gets a takedown in the center of the cage with more than three minutes to go. Cummins is dripping blood all over the Brazilian. Not a vicious attack by Cummins, so this could get stood up. Cavalcante eats two big punches. Cavalcante nails him with an upkick. Time is called to check Cummins’ battered face. Game on. Cavalcante gets to his feet. Cavalcante is gassed. Cummins slams him to the ground again and lands on his back.

5thRound scores it: Cummins, 10-9.

3rdRound: Cummins easily gets another takedown in under 30 seconds. Cummins dropping nasty elbows. It’s a wrap. Cavalcante gave up because he was gassed.

Demian Maia Defeats Neil Magny via Submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:52 in the 2ndRound

1stRound: Maia immediately goes for a takedown. He drags Magny to the ground in under a minute. Maia easily moves to full-mount. Solid punches by Maia from the top. Magny works him into his half-guard, but can’t get to his feet. Maia is active on top, though nothing devastating. He’s obviously looking for a submission. Maia gets to full-mount again and is raining punches. Magny doing a good job of avoiding submission. Maia going for an armbar, but the horn sounds.

5thRound scores it: Maia, 10-9.

2ndRound: Maia gets him down in 10 seconds… He advances to full-mount. Maia takes his back with three minutes to go. Now he has a body triangle. Maia slaps on a rear-naked choke. Magny taps. Maia took him to school.

Main Card:

Claudia Gadelha Defeats Jessica Aguilar via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

1stRound: Gadelha lands a knee to the grill in the clinch. Aguilar answers with a leg kick. Gadelha tags her with a left hook. She follow sup with a one-two combination. Aguilar having trouble finding her range. Gadelha lands a body kick. Aguilar looks tense. Gadelha connects with a left hook and knee to the face. Octagon jitters for Aguilar? Solid jab by Gadelha. Gadelha gets a body lock and slams her to the mat. She takes Aguilar’s back with 30 seconds left.

5thRound scores it: Gadelha, 10-9.

2ndRound: Gadelha scores with a left hook. She follow sup with a one-two combo. Gadelha rocks her with a left hook and goes in for the kill. She has Aguilar clinched against the cage. Aguilar lands a knee to the midsection. Gadelha gets a takedown and jumps on her back. Aguilar fights to her feet. Aguilar’s nose is bloodied. Aguilar is clinching her against the fence. Gadelha reverses. They trade knees to the stomach. They have separated. Gadelha is winning every exchange, but Aguilar isn’t backing down. Leg kick by Aguilar. Gadelha lands an uppercut. Gadelha gets a powerful takedown to cement the round.

5thRound scores it: Gadelha, 10-9.

3rdRound: Aguilar desperately needs a finish to salvage her big league debut. Gadelha not willing to help out with two straight unanswered combos. Aguilar landing the leg kick more, but might be too late. And another. Gadelha clocks her with a big right. Aguilar gets a hold of a leg but can’t finish the takedown. Gadelha nails her with a right as they separate. This is Aguilar’s best round, but it’s not enough. Gadelha dives and scores a big takedown to seal the deal.

5thRound scores it: Gadelha, 10-9, and should sweep the cards, 30-27.

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva Defeats Soa Palelei via TKO (punches) at :41 in the 2ndRound

1stRound: Silva takes the center of the cage and throws a knee that appeared to land on Palelei’s chest. Palelei tried a takedown to no avail. They separate. Two unanswered jabs by Palelei. Silva lands an uppercut. Silva has him clinched against the cage. Palelei reverses and gets Silva to the ground. He’s working in half-guard. Palelei finishing with a flurry.

5thRound scores it: Palelei, 10-9.

2ndRound: Silva comes out firing. He lands an uppercut that appears to have stunned Palelei. He’s unleashing bombs now. Silva is giving him the business. He drops Palelei with another uppercut and continues his assault on the ground. It’s a wrap.

Stefan Struve Defeats Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

 1stRound: Nogueira quickly closes the distance and gets a clinch. They’ve been hugging each other on the fence for about a minute. They separate and Struve rocks him with a right hand. Nogueira quickly clinches to recover. Struve nails him with another vicious right. Nogueira drops to his back but Struve wants no part of it and lets him back up. Nogueira tags him with a one-two combo. Nice leg kick by Struve. He follows up with a right hand.

5thRound scores it: Struve, 10-9.

2ndRound: Struve starts things off with a leg kick. Nogueira charges forward and tags him with a right hand. Nogueira doing a great job of closing the distance. Nogueira gets him to the ground and takes his back. Struve rolls over and shucks him off. They’re back up. Solid left by Struve. Struve starting to unload his front kicks more often. Close one.

5thRound scores it: Nogueira, 10-9.

3rdRound: Nogueira drags him to the ground, but Struve gets right back up. This fight is up for grabs. Solid leg kick by Struve. And another. Massive head kick by Struve that Nogueira just walks through. Struve starting to pull away, something he probably should have done a long time ago. Three unanswered jabs by Struve. Nogueira clinches him for some reason.

5thRound scores it: Struve, 10-9, and should win, 29-28.

Reginaldo Vieira Defeats Dileno Lopes via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) (Vieira wins TUF: Brazil 4 bantamweight tournament)

 1stRound: They come out fast. Vieira slaps on a guillotine choke and drops to the ground. Lopes fends him off and now locks in a guillotine choke of his own. Vieira fights free. That was a crazy exchange. They are trading leather. Lopes puts on another guillotine choke. Vieira gets free and is on top now. They get to their feet. Vieira tags him with a right hand.

5thRound scores it: Vieira, 10-9.

2ndRound: They continue their fast pace. Lopes nails him with a body kick. Vieira scores with an inside leg kick. Vieira clocks him with a one-two combo. Lopes answers with a left hook. Lopes catches a kick and drag him to the mat. They’re in the center of the cage. Close round.

5thRound scores it: Lopes, 10-9.

3rdRound: Lopes gets a takedown. He’s going for another guillotine choke. It looks tight, but it’s arm-in. Vieira fought him off for a while and finally gets free. He’s on top and making Lopes pay for daring to submit him. He’s going after Lopes.

5thRound scores it: Vieira, 10-9, and possibly won, 29-28.

Glaico Franca Defeats Fernando Bruno via Submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:46 in the 3rdRound (Franca wins TUF: Brazil 4 lightweight tournament)

1stRound: Franca has a clear reach advantage. Lets see if he can utilize it. Bruno clocks him with a right. Bruno dives for a single-leg takedown. He gets him down for a moment, but is still draped all over Franca. They take turns clinching against the fence. Franca gets a takedown. Bruno gets up for just a brief moment. Franca is draped all over his back.

5thRound scores it: Franca, 10-9.

2ndRound: Head kick by Franca. Bruno is clinching him against the cage. Franca reverses. Sorry, but this fight is damn boring. Franca gets a brief takedown, but Bruno lands on top. Bruno lets him back up. Franca lands a head kick. He tosses Bruno to the mat and jumps on his back. He slaps on a rear-naked choke.

5thRound scores it: Franca 10-9.

3rdRound: Bruno scores a takedown. Franca gets up rather easily. Bruno drives for another takedown. Franco looks more tired. Bruno pressing him against the cage. Franca gets another takedown. He slaps on a rear-naked choke. Bruno is forced to tap.

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua Defeats Antonio Rogerio Nogueira via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

1stRound: Nothing happening in the first 90 seconds. They trade punches in the pocket, with Rua wining the exchange. Rua follows up with a leg kick. They trade big rights. Nogueira rocks him with a right and is swarming. Rua is fighting back, but seems out on his feet. Nogueira stumbles back. Rua is taking some serious punishment. Knee to the midsection by Nogueira.

5thRound scores it: Nogueira, 10-9.

2ndRound: Rua dives for a single-leg and scores a takedown in the center of the cage. Not much damage done. The crowd is getting restless. They’re back to their feet with a minute to go. Nogueira tags him with a right.

3rdRound: Rua kicks him in the belly. He lands another, but eats some punches for his efforts. Rua has him clinched against the cage. Nogueira scores with a straight left. Rua responds with a left. Rua unsuccessful with another takedown attempt. Two minutes left, and this is up for grabs. Rua starting to land some leg kicks. Rua goes for a double-leg, but gets caught in a guillotine choke. He has 45 seconds to fight it off. Rua gets free.

5thRound scores it: Rua, 10-9, and likely won, 29-28.

Ronda Rousey Defeats Bethe Correia via KO (punches) at :34 in the 1stRound (Rousey retains UFC bantamweight title)

1stRound: “Big” John McCarthy is the third person in the cage. Rousey comes out fast. Rousey lands some uppercuts in the clinch. Wild exchange. Rousey unleashes a knee to the midsection and a barrage of punches. Rousey face plants her. Game over. #Planking
