It appears the two baddest women in the UFC will be on display January 2. On Friday, reigning bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey confirmed she will defend her throne against Holy Holm at UFC 195.
Shortly after Rousey’s announcement on “Good Morning America,” LA Times reporter Lance Pugmire said UFC president Dana White is aiming to have strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk co-headline the show, “likely” against Claudia Gadelha.
Jedrzejczyk owns an unblemished 10-0 professional record, with one of those victories coming just three outings ago against Gadelha. The 28-year-old is quickly making a name for herself on the MMA scene given her charisma and recent propensity of plastering opponents.
Rousey, the UFC’s biggest superstar, even admitted she was nervous meeting Jedrzejczyk for the first time.
Apparently, all it took was one lopsided unanimous decision win over Jessica Aguilar for Gadelha to earn her rematch with Jedrzejczyk. The Brazilian was confident she would avenge the split decision defeat to Jedrzejczyk after August’s domination of Aguilar.
MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts the festivities.
Here is the card’s current lineup:
Claudia Gadelha vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk (UFC strawweight champion)
Holy Holm vs. Ronda Rousey (UFC bantamweight champion)
