According to Spike TV, Saturday’s live broadcast of “UFC 108 Prelims Live” garnered an average of 1.5 million viewers, making it the highest rated show of its kind to date.

“UFC 108 Prelims” drew a 1.3 household rating in the males 18-49 demographic and a 1.4 for males 18-34, which was on par with previous episodes. However, past shows have drawn an average of 1.3 to 1.4 million viewers and a 1.0 household rating overall.

The one-hour lead-in featured two exciting fights as fans witnessed Martin Kampmann catch Jacob Volkmann in a wicked guillotine choke in the opening stanza of their contest, and Cole Miller’s dramatic 1stRound kimura on Dan Lauzon.

Because both live fights finished so quickly, Spike and the UFC generously treated fans to two additional preliminary bouts via tape-delay.

This is great news all around because as long as we keep watching, they’ll keep feeding us free prelims. Get it … ?
