Ronda Rousey and fellow UFC star Brendan Schaub (pictured) have each taken the high road since their breakup. However, with recent comments made on two separate podcasts, it appears Schaub is now taking MMA fans down a different path – not necessarily the low road, but down bitter ex-boyfriend boulevard.
Earlier this month, Schaub was on “The Joe Rogan Experience” and said he “did her a favor” by no longer being Rousey’s main squeeze. The heavyweight claimed Rousey needs a man who will “take a backseat” and say yes to everything she wants because she’s already surrounded herself with people who “worship her and go ‘yes, yes, that’s a great idea.'”
Schaub admitted he wasn’t the man for the job, because he is too much of a man.
Rogan quickly shut the conversation down because Rousey wasn’t there to “defend herself.”
Well, Schaub started the Rousey conversation right back up on his own podcast, “The Fighter and The Kid.” Only this time, Schaub decided to put Rousey’s rumored new boyfriend, UFC heavyweight Travis Browne, on blast, as well.
“It’s tough when you’re like, ‘Oh, don’t be a do-nothing bitch’ and you hate on [Floyd] Mayweather, and then your boyfriend’s over here beating the s**t out of his wife. Not to mention, he’s still married. So it’s tough when you’re a role model,” Schaub stated.
The UFC currently has Browne sitting in the bullpen after Jenna Reneé Webb, who was first reported to be Browne’s ex-girlfriend but apparently appears to actually be his wife, accused him of domestic violence with several damaging pictures on Instagram.
The UFC won’t make a decision on Browne until the incident is “thoroughly reviewed and thoroughly investigated by an independent party.”
Rousey has made no bones about her despise for Floyd Mayweather and his propensity for beating the women in his life. Rousey’s latest jab came after she topped the boxer for this year’s “Best Fighter” ESPY by saying, “I can’t help but really say that, I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once.”
If Browne did in fact assault his wife, it would be highly hypocritical of Rousey to be dating her Glendale Fighting Club teammate. Regardless, it’s tough for Schaub to come out looking clean when he’s airing his ex-girl’s dirty laundry.
It might be best for “Big Brown” to keep his big mouth shut on all things Ronda Rousey. Anything negative Schaub says about the UFC’s golden girl, he now becomes “that guy” given their history, and nobody wants that label.
On the flipside, if this were Jerry Springer, how great would a Schaub vs. Browne rematch be? I can see the headline now, “Love Triangle To Be Settled In The Octagon.”
Your move, Dana White…
