The UFC has officially announced the welterweight bout between Mike Swick and Paulo Thiago for UFC 109. Not a big shocker as word broke a week ago that Swick would be stepping in to replace his fallen American Kickboxing Academy teammate, Josh Koscheck, at the February 6th event.
Swick holds an impressive 14-3 record, but dropped a lopsided unanimous decision to Dan Hardy at UFC 105 last month. The loss marked his first L since dropping to the welterweight division back in January of 2008.
Speaking of nasty records, Thiago boasts a 12-1 mark of his own – with seven of his victories coming via submission. The Brazilian’s only loss came at the hands of his American Kickboxing Academy teammate Jon Fitch at UFC 100.
UFC 109 will take place inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas. Here is how the re-vamped card now shapes out:
Justin Buchholz vs. Mac Danzig
Melvin Guillard vs. Ronnys Torres
Tim Hague vs. Chris Tuchscherer
Phil Davis vs. Brian Stann
Rob Emerson vs. Phillipe Nover
Rolles Gracie vs. Mostapha Al Turk
Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller
Paulo Thiago vs. Mike Swick
Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg
Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen
Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman
