Former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis (pictured) and Eddie Alvarez were both down to dance, and now it appears the UFC is prepared to arrange the tango.
On Friday, Alvarez announced on Twitter that he and Pettis will collide in Boston.
“it’s official , at first I just wanted the guy , now I got location too , thank you @ufc @danawhite , gonna blow the roof off Beantown!!” Alvarez tweeted.
The UFC has yet to officially confirm the bout.
TD Garden will host the January 17 festivities.
Pettis returns to action for the first time since losing his title to Rafael dos Anjos. “Showtime” had rattled off five straight wins prior to March’s lopsided unanimous decision defeat.
Alvarez, meanwhile, posted his first victory in the UFC with a split decision over Gilbert Melendez. The former Bellator champ lost to Donald Cerrone in his UFC debut before facing Melendez in June.
Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the main card, which will be headlined by a bantamweight title tilt between champion TJ Dillashaw and former champ Dominick Cruz.
