Uriah Hall (pictured) was a significant 4-1 underdog against Gegard Mousasi entering UFC Fight Night 75. Hall must have thought he was still a contestant on “The Ultimate Fighter 17” (remember when UFC president Dana White foolishly compared Hall to Anderson Silva?), because he posterized Mousasi on Saturday night.
Mousasi cruised to take the opening round, but Hall came out with guns blazing in the second stanza. He caught “The Dream Catcher” with a spinning back-kick to the face, then floored him with a flying knee to the grill.
Several bombs to the dome on the canvas and the assault was brought to a halt.
Hall has had an up-and-down career in the UFC, with White even calling him out for lack of a killer instinct, but the middleweight has now posted two consecutive victories. Mousasi is by far the biggest win of his life.
Mousasi, meanwhile, has long been one of MMA’s top fighters. However, the veteran is now just 4-3 since joining the UFC.
UFC Fight Night 75 took place inside Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
