Day of Reckoning will be Strictly an MMA Affair

Affliction Entertainment vice president Tom Atencio has revealed very little about their second MMA event since they rescheduled the original date and location two months ago. Atencio did confirm one thing however, “Day of Reckoning” will strictly be an MMA affair. After coming to terms with Golden Boy Promotions last month, the two intended to co-promote cards that would hold both boxing and MMA, however they will put that on hold until after this event.

“The January show is going to be an all-MMA card,” Atencio told Sherdog.com. “It’s just not something we could work out (by January).”

However, Atencio stated that future boxing and MMA cards is a certainty for them and their new partners.

Unfortunately for MMA fans, that is the only certainty as of now. Affliction stated that it is likely that their second event will be held on January 24th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, however both are subject to change.

It seems as though Affliction wants to make certain that the UFC will not plan an event that same day, as they did with UFC 93. When the UFC found out that Affliction was intending to hold their event on January 17th, they decided to add a last minute card to throw a kink into Affliction’s plans.

As of now, here are the fighters that are Rumored to be competing on the card:

Renato “Babalu” Sobral vs. TBD
Pedro Rizzo vs. Ben Rothwell
Jay White vs. Chase Gormley
Albert Rios vs. Antonio Duarte
Jay Hieron vs. Drew Fickett
Chris Horodecki vs. Dan Lauzon
Ben Rothwell vs. Pedro Rizzo
Matt Lindland vs. Trevor Prangley
Gegard Mousasi vs. Vitor Belfort
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
Andrei Arlovski vs. Fedor Emelianenko (WAMMA Heavyweight Champion)
