On Thursday, a pair of welterweight affairs were added to the UFC 195 lineup. Top prospect Stephen Thompson (pictured) will battle Neil Magny, while former Strikeforce star Lorenz Larson faces Albert Tumenov in the January 2 event.
Thompson will be riding a five-fight winning streak into the tango. “Wonderboy” most recently posterized Jake Ellenberger in July with a KO kick to the dome.
Magny is victorious in eight of his past nine outings. He rebounded from a loss to Demian Maia nicely by taking a split decision over Erick Silva in August.
Larkin managed to right the ship after dropping three consecutive bouts by beating John Howard in January and Santiago Ponzinibbio in June.
Tumenov is another up-and-coming Russian looking to do damage in the UFC. He owns a 16-2 record, winning four in a row after losing his UFC debut to Ildemar Alcantara in a controversial split decision.
MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts the festivities.
