Once again, reigning UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (pictured) is an overwhelming favorite to retain her title the next time she takes center stage.
Because Rousey is expected to blast Holly Holm at UFC 193 in landslide fashion, there aren’t many storylines heading into the November 14 affair. However, all you really need is one, and the one UFC 193 has in its back pocket is quite juicy.
Earlier this month, Rousey’s mom, AnnMaria De Mars, lambasted her daughter’s coach by claiming he was a terrible coach, an even worse person and a user for parading Rousey around in order to lure other fighters to his gym.
How much does De Mars hate Edmond Tarverdyan?
“I would run over him with my car if there wasn’t a law against it,” De Mars said in her interview with LatiNation.
During Tuesday’s UFC 193 media day, held at Tarverdyan’s Glendale Fighting Club in Glendale, California, Rousey was asked to comment on her mom’s lethal remarks.
Unfortunately, the always-talkative Rousey was not so talkative on the matter.
“Any reaction and response I have for my mother, she’s going to hear from me and not a media outlet,” Rousey said after taking a long pause to gather her words. “I really don’t think that’s anybody’s business.”
Rousey may not think it’s anyone’s business, but it is after De Mars lambasted Tarverdyan in a public interview. It’s not as though her mom berated him behind closed doors and an unnamed sourced leaked the incident.
You know what’s really not anyone’s business? The fact that she’s with UFC heavyweight Travis Browne, but Rousey still issued a statement to ESPN.com confirming their romantic relationship.
Rousey may be trying to sweep this training camp drama under the rug, but it has to be a significant distraction when two of the people she respects the most are essentially mortal enemies.
Tarverdyan was at Tuesday’s media gathering and took the high road when asked about De Mars’ vicious comments. He said he would never talk negatively about anybody’s mother.
Rousey and Holm headline UFC 193 inside Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
