Dustin Poirier vs. Joseph Duffy: Take Two. The lightweight bout that was supposed to go down this past Saturday in Ireland will now take place at UFC 195.
The make-up matchup was announced on Wednesday’s episode of “UFC Tonight.”
Duffy was pulled from Saturday’s main event at the last-second after the UFC discovered he had suffered a mild concussion during training the weekend prior.
Poirier was paid his show money for making the trek to Dublin.
Since losing to Conor McGregor, Poirier has found his stride back up at the lightweight division. “Diamond” has rattled off two straight wins after leaving the featherweight class, most recently TKO’ing Yancy Medeiros in June.
Duffy will be riding a four-fight winning steak into the tango. “Irish Joe” has posted two consecutive first round finishes since joining the UFC.
Duffy was a 2.5-1 odds-on favorite before getting pulled from this past weekend’s fight. There’s no reason to believe he won’t have a very similar line at UFC 195.
The January 2 event takes place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A welterweight title tilt between champion Robbie Lawler and former interim champ Carlos Condit headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.
Here is the card’s updated roster:
Lorenz Larkin vs. Albert Tumenov
Dustin Poirier vs. Joseph Duffy
Andrei Arlovski vs. Stipe Miocic
Carlos Condit vs. Robbie Lawler (UFC welterweight champion)
