Rousey Or Jedrzejczyk More Likely To Be Upset At UFC 193?

Ronda Rousey UFC

I don’t want to say that Holly Holm has zero chance of beating reigning bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (pictured) at UFC 193, but let’s just say I have a better shot at winning the lottery.

However, Holm does face better odds of serving up an upset special Saturday over Rousey than Valerie Letourneau does of dethroning strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the co-main event.

Rousey is currently a whopping 20-1 odds-on favorite to plaster Holm in Australia. Holm, who Rousey has tried to claim is her “toughest opponent to date” in a desperate attempt to get fans to shell out $54.95 on the pay-per-view, checks in as a 10-1 underdog.

However, those lines are nothing compared to what Letourneau is facing. She’s an 11.5-1 longshot to beat Jedrzejczyk. Jedrzejczyk, on the other hand, is a 23-1 favorite to retain her title.

With those kinds of odds for the show’s two featured fights, is UFC 193 even worth watching, let alone buying? The outcomes seem like a done deal, no?

At this point, who has the better shot of upsetting the current title holder? The odds say Holm, though let’s be real, she might possess the better standup game but she won’t dare attempt any kicks on Rousey for fear of getting planted on her back, and she hasn’t shown knockout power with her hands in MMA yet. All Rousey needs to do is charge her like a bull in a China shop, toss her to the canvas and it’s a wrap.

Rousey might make it interesting by testing her boxing against Holm, but if things get hairy, there won’t be any issue wrestling Holm to the ground. Once it’s there, bye-bye arm.

That leaves Letourneau. Her odds of winning are worse than Holm, but if I had a choice between the two, I would take Letourneau. If she’s able to secure takedowns, Jedrzejczyk’s lethal standup is out of the picture. She needs to make it a boring lay-and-pray bout.

The fans might not like it, but a win is a win.

Realistically, Rousey and Jedrzejczyk will leave UFC 193 with their titles in tow. But with landslide results expected, we’ve got to find some way to make the event worth ordering.

Here are the available wagering lines for Saturday:
