Oh, Dear Lord. Please have mercy on the UFC light heavyweight division. If MMA fans thought Jon Jones was an absolute beast before, imagine the kind of havoc he’ll wreak now with his refined physique.
Jones posted a side-by-side comparison on his private Instagram account of what he looked like during the off-season in 2013 and what he looks like today after a recent session in the weight room. Let’s just say, OMG.
Jones has been hinting that he’ll reemerged bigger and badder following April’s felony hit-and-run arrest, which resulted in the UFC stripping him of his light heavyweight title and issuing a temporary suspension, by posting various pictures and videos of his work in the weight room.
The UFC reinstated Jones last month after he avoided jail time for his latest legal hiccup by cutting a plea deal. It is believed Jones will get an immediate crack at champ Daniel Cormier to try and reclaim his throne upon return.
The date of the rematch has not been finalized. Or has it?
“Off season 2013 vs. off season 2015. Five more months to prepare for this win. I’ll be sure to be at my best April 23rd #NewLevels,” Jones captioned with the image above.
The UFC has tentatively reserved New York’s famed Madison Square Garden on April 23. However, if the NYC still refuses to legalize mixed martial arts by then, a high possibility, then it is rumored the sequel could get moved to Las Vegas or the Honda Center in Anaheim. Or UFC 200, if Cormier gets his way.
Jones, the most decorated light heavyweight champion in UFC history, dominated Cormier in January to post a division record eighth straight title defense.
