Ronda Rousey’s Hollywood smile is in serious jeopardy, thanks to freshly-minted UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm.
In her first interview since getting knocked unconscious at UFC 193, Rousey said in ESPN The Magazine’s “Ideas of the Year” issue, in which Rousey dons the cover, that some of her teeth are still so jacked up from the beating Holm unleashed on her last month that she can’t even eat solid fruit, let alone prepare for their rematch.
“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” Rousey revealed.
UFC president Dana White said last week that once Rousey is ready to go, she will get an immediate rematch against Holm. White wasn’t certain when that would take place, but based off Rousey’s timeline, the earliest would be March. However, that date might be ambitious.
The rematch will likely break all UFC pay-per-view records, so if Rousey and the UFC are smart, they might want to push the sequel back to UFC 200 on July 2. That show is expected to be of the blockbuster variety, and Holm vs. Rousey II might be the perfect headliner.
Holm, meanwhile, was sporting a massive Kook-Aid smile Sunday when her hometown of Albuquerque threw a massive parade in her honor. It was reported approximately 20,000 fans came out to show their support to the woman who brought Rousey back down to earth.
