It is being reported former Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker will make his professional MMA debut against Greg Nagy at “Strikeforce: Miami” on January 30th inside the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida.

UltMMA.com was the first to report on the potential matchup on Thursday, and The Florida Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation have since verified with multiple news outlets that the bout has been given the green light.

Although the scrap is still pending final approval by Showtime, which will broadcast the event beginning at 9PM EST/PST, there is no reason to believe there will be an issue.

The 47-year-old signed a multi-fight contract with Strikeforce in September and began training with the world-renowned American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California the following month.

Walker tore-up NFL fields for 12 seasons and has maintained the body of a 20-year-old ever since.  He’s a fifth-degree black belt in tae kwon do, however that’s the extent of his martial arts experience.

Nagy holds a 1-1 professional record and most recently dropped a unanimous decision to Francisco Navarro at RITC 136 in November.

Here are the fighters rumored to fight on the Showtime Broadcast:

Preliminary Bouts:

David Gomez vs. Craig Oxley
Sabah Homasi vs. John Kelly
Pablo Alfonso vs. Marcos da Matta
Jay Hieron vs. Joe Riggs

Main Bouts:

Bobby Lashley vs. TBD
