This year’s Dream Middleweight Grand Prix champion, Gegard Mousasi, wants to focus his intentions on his lifelong dream of becoming a world champion in boxing. He hopes that his management, M-1, can help him achieve his goal through their relationship with both Affliction and Golden Boy Promotions.

“I see this title as the stepping stone to accomplish my real desire, and that is to also become the world champion in boxing,” Mousasi said in a press release.

Mousasi is represented by M-1, who also represents Fedor Emelianenko. It had been reported that Mousasi could possibly face Vitor Belfort on January’s Affliction “Day of Reckoning.”

“In MMA I will go up to 93 kilograms (205lbs.), not only to increase my strength, but if I fight between 85 and 93 kilograms in boxing, I have quite a wide range to test my skills before I decide in which weight class I enter boxing competition,” Mousasi explained.

It is currently not known as to when Mousasi will begin his boxing career.
