Well, that didn’t take long. Moments after the UFC officially announced featherweight champion Conor McGregor would jump to lightweight and challenge champ Rafael Dos Anjos for his crown in an attempt to be the promotion’s first two-way title holder at UFC 197, McGregor took to his verified Facebook page to begin the verbal warfare.
McGregor said he will dedicate the March 5 fight to “loyal people of Brazil and all the fans around the globe who stay true to their roots and loyal to their land.”
“Notorious” went on to call Dos Anjos “a traitor to his people and vows to “behead the ‘American Gringo’ Rafael Dos Anjos.”
The chatty Irishman completed his post with the above Photoshopped pic.
McGregor appears to believe Dos Anjos has turned his back on Brazil after moving his family to America with him. The irony is, while McGregor maintains a home in Ireland, he spends a lot of his time in Las Vegas at the “Mac Mansion.”
Regardless, shots fired. Was it a shock that McGregor was the first to pull the trigger?
Here is McGregor’s complete post on Facebook:
