Former UFC fighter and current FOX Sports 1 MMA analyst Kenny Florian (pictured) should spend less time perfecting every last strand of hair on his head and more time writing his own material.

On Saturday, Fox Sports suspended Florian for plagiarizing British writer Lee Wylie, apparently word-for-word, for Monday’s FoxSports.com piece where Florian broke down Sunday’s bantamweight title tilt between champion TJ Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz.

Florian copied, verbatim, language used in a YouTube video analyzing the technique of 1940’s boxing champ Willie Pep, which Wylie produced.

“It is vitally important that FOX Sports and FOXSports.com maintain credibility and trust with their readers, viewers and fans,” Fox Sports posted Saturday via Twitter. “FOX UFC on-air personality Kenny Florian is being suspended beginning immediately for a critical oversight in a story posted earlier this week on FOXSports.com. Florian has admitted and regrets his mistake and apologized for the error.”

The contents of Florian’s original article have been removed and replaced with the following:

“(Editor’s Note: Language in this breakdown borrows from written material in a video of an in-depth look at the defensive boxing prowess of Willie Pep by TheFightCity.com boxing analyst Lee Wylie. The original version of this story did not contain this credit. We regret the oversight.)

The offending content has been removed from this URL.”

Florian issued a brief statement late Friday night after catching flak for the “oversight.”

“The only person who should be upset & rightfully so is @LeeWylie1 who I’ve explained the situation to. Will explain on @AnikFlorianPod Tues,” Florian wrote on his verified Twitter account.

Florian will miss his first assignment Sunday when Fox Sports 1 hosts the much anticipated championship affair between Dillashaw and Cruz.

Florian serves as co-host on Fox Sports 1’s weekly “UFC Tonight” show and is a staple at the desk for nearly every UFC event, where he is expected to provide expert analysis given his history in the UFC.

No word on how long Florian will be shelved.
