Dominick Cruz won! No, TJ Dillashaw won! Actually, Dominick Cruz won to reclaim the UFC bantamweight title. It was a typical Dominick Cruz fight, which meant the possibility for controversy was strong if it went to the scorecards.

MMA pundits and media outlets’ scores were all over the place on @5thRound’s Twitter feed. Some had Dillashaw up 4-0 entering the final round, while others had Cruz up by that same margin before the last stanza. 5thRound.com had it knotted up at two rounds apiece.

However, the only opinions that mattered where that of the three judges sitting inches away from the live action.

The only round that Dave Ginsberg, Tony Weeks and Sal D’Amato all agreed on was the second, with each giving it to Cruz, 10-9. Other than that, it was a free for all.

When it was all said and done, Ginsberg gave it to Cruz, 48-47, Weeks had Cruz, 49-46, while D’Amato thought Dillashaw had it 49-46.

UFC Fight Night 81 took place inside TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
