There will be some Brazilian on Brazilian crime going down May 14 in Brazil. On Tuesday, it was announced a middleweight shootout between Vitor Belfort (pictured) and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will headline the UFC’s return to jiu jitsu country.
Belfort is looking to build off November’s quick KO victory over Dan Henderson. “The Phenom” has won four of his past five bouts, but is just 1-1 since being forced off testosterone replacement therapy.
Souza, meanwhile, is looking to bounce back from last month’s split decision defeat to Yoel Romero. However, it was reported last week that Romero potentially flunked his post-fight drug test. The outcome of the tango will be overturned to a no contest if/when Romero is found guilty.
Souza had rattled off eight straight wins prior to meeting Romero. He was set to score a middleweight title tilt had he won.
No other scraps have been reported for the lineup at this time.
No word if UFC Fight Pass, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2 or some combination of the three will make the card available for live viewing in America.
A venue has not been announced for the show.
